Tickets start at $40 and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the box office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors.
Straight No Chaser is neither strait-laced nor straight-faced, but neither are they vaudeville-style kitsch. As original member Randy Stine comments, “We take the music very seriously; we just don’t take ourselves too seriously.” In the process, they have reinvented the idea of acappella on the modern pop landscape. Originally formed in 1996 while students at Indiana University, the group reassembled and reemerged after becoming a YouTube sensation in 2006 when a college performance of the “12 Days of Christmas” went viral. Today they are a worldwide phenomenon with a massive fan base, millions of views on YouTube, numerous national TV appearances and proven success with CD releases. In an era when so much pop music is the product of digital processing and vocal pro-tooling, Straight No Chaser is the real deal – the captivating sound of nine unadulterated human voices coming together to make extraordinary music that is moving people in a fundamental sense and with a sense of humor.
