GALA Theatre is thrilled to announce a new production of our 2009 world premiere hit, Mummy in the Closet: Evita’s Return, a dark musical comedy that fuses historical intrigue with spine-chilling entertainment. Blending the beats of tango, waltz and salsa, the show runs from May 9 to June 9, 2024. Experience the intense love between Eva Perón and the working class and her mesmerizing power as Argentina’s most iconic figure—even after her untimely death.

“This work is not about Evita, nor the journey of her corpse. It is about a terrible idea that has become popular again: criminals taking power,” says Gustavo Ott, Producing Artistic Director at GALA. “Suddenly, thugs define our time. This work is about us, right here and right now. Do we fight these monsters or submit and define ourselves by the jaws that devour us?”

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm at GALA Theatre, located at 3333 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20010. All performances will be in Spanish with English surtitles.
