It’s that time of year again! You know what I’m talking about! Those anxious weeks leading up to the start of football season. Redskins training camp has officially begun but we’re going to take a moment to show some appreciation to the ones getting it done on the sidelines each and every Redskins home game. The first ladies of football; your 2013 Redskinettes! Their celebrating the release of their brand new swimwear calendar and hosting a party at Howard Theatre for the occasion.

Cheerleaders are an integral part of the football experience. You have a bunch of sweaty, battered and bruised football players trying to decapitate each other on the field. You need a change of aesthetics to lighten the mood; to remind us never to get discouraged and always cheer on your team no matter what.

During the bye week the Redskins were 3-6, my significant other and I posted this Christmas tree on Facebook we made together. (I give her all the credit for the tree, I stated they would go 7-0 the rest of the season; believe in RGIII!) There wasn’t any doubt in my mind we could run the table. I had a feeling Robert Griffin III was going to put on a show and you’re in every game when he does that. The Redskins preceded to win out and make the playoffs. We all cheer! If your not one of the 22 players on the field, your a cheerer. (Even Players, Coaches and members of the training staff cheer.) The Redskinettes are the cheerleaders; you see the significance in that? If you’re a fan of football you can’t overlook the importance of those representing hope, encouragement and exhilaration. The Redskins are the defending NFC East Champions so we have a lot to applaud.

Just like the Redskins the Redskinettes are a team! They represent the organization in a very professional manner. Genuinely inviting, they love all their fans and appreciate all your support. Smiles are contagious and you couldn’t help but to smile yourself, it was a giddy atmosphere all evening.

Tonight’s event wasn’t just a cheer presentation and an unveiling of their new uniforms. It was also a full on fashion show. They showed off the latest styles in both evening and swimwear.

The swimwear presentation was entertaining. It was a live demonstration of their new calendar, a count down month by month. I guess I can say without going into too much detail that this portion rocked! The latest in designer woman’s swimwear!

You know the Redskinettes know how to throw it down! This party was a great time!  We have the rest of the year to talk football; show some gratitude to the ones we hear cheering through the parabolic microphones on Sunday no matter what the circumstance.  We are all cheerleaders, whenever we cheer.
