The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with American Dance Movement, proudly presents a National Dance Day celebration to take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Now in its 16th year, this free, community event invites people of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of dance through performances, interactive workshops, and the opportunity to learn an official National Dance Day routine at the Kennedy Center

This year’s celebration includes appearances from local dance companies such as Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble, chitra.MOVES, Corazón Folklórico Dance Company, DC Rawhides, Furia Flamenca, Jessica Featherson, The Lion’s Den DMV, Emerald Holman, Motion X Dance Company, Project ChArma, and more. Hosting the event is the dynamic KyleOnTheMic, known for his high-energy performances across national stages.

“For the last 16 years, the Kennedy Center has dedicated one Saturday each summer to celebrating the power and joy of dance,” said Jane Raleigh, Director of Dance Programming. “National Dance Day is, without a doubt, my favorite day of the year – the team comes together to welcome performers, teachers, and students from across the DMV dance scene, filling our campus with incredible energy. It’s a day full of movement, music, and inspiration. I invite you to join us and experience the excitement of dance at the Kennedy Center!”

All Kennedy Center-hosted National Dance Day events are free! Admission for each activity is first-come first-served and subject to capacity. The official 2025 National Dance Day routine and instructional video will be released soon at americandancemovement.org.
