“Stories can lift our spirits, drive change, and give us hope. Storytellers explore, enlighten, enchant, and engage – make us laugh, make us cry, make us aware, and remind us we are all connected,” Rose Anderson, VP/Executive Director, New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. “This year’s finalists used their imaginations and mastery of their craft to engage their audiences in a year like no other.”
“Wielding the power of the arts to make a difference is what drives our work at The Creative Coalition,” said The Creative Coalition President Tim Daly. “We are honored to be recognized in that mission by the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. Most importantly, we are grateful that, through this project, people living with glioblastoma were given a platform to share their joy and inspiring stories with the world.”
“The Creative Coalition is delighted to be a double-finalist at the 2021 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards,” said Robin Bronk, CEO of The Creative Coalition. “The Creative Coalition’s mission is to use the power and platform of the arts to move social welfare in a positive direction. We hope that bringing the stories of people living with glioblastoma will raise awareness around this devastating disease and urgent need to find a cure. This honor is owed entirely to the people whose powerful stories are at the center of this incredible and impactful project.”
The Creative Coalition’s “This Ain’t Your Average Talk Show” aired exclusively on People.com and People TV in October 2020. The special charity event was hosted by patients living with glioblastoma (GBM), a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, who interviewed their favorite celebrities, including Tim Daly, Edie Falco, Jim Gaffigan, Rosie O’Donnell, Zachary Levi, Sarah Paulson, Bob Saget, Iliza Shlesinger, and Aisha Tyler — with a special music performance by GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter MAJOR. The event, made possible through the generous support of Novocure, was produced by actor and producer Erich Bergen and Aimie Billon.
