On this edition of SNAPSHOTS, I am continuing our series of interviews for the sophomore season of the Apple TV+’s animated series, CURSES! This time, I am talking to the actress who plays one of the leads of Curses! She voices Pandora Vanderhouven and is a Emmy Nominated Actress & Producer Founder and CEO of The House of GNG!

Let’s get ready for an adventure with Gabrielle Neveah!

Well, I cannot believe the second season of CURSES! is coming up! What can fans expect for the upcoming season coming up today?
So, Season Two of CURSES! is 1,000,000% bigger. Our family goes on so many different adventures. We travel to so many different countries. Excuse me. And our family really dives deep into what’s happening with Alex season one. It was all about trying to save dad. Dad turned to stone because we were cursed. And now in season two, things aren’t quite settled, we go on all these different adventures to return these artifacts. But also, as an added layer, things with Alex are also heightened.

Absolutely, especially season one, you are one of the protagonists. I’d like to know what your favorite moment of Pandora in the first season was.

My favorite moment from Pandora in the first season was her learning a little bit of responsibility. She doesn’t learn a ton of responsibility, but through all these adventures and through trying to save her dad, I think she learned a bit of a little bit of control, and also where she fits in in the family.

You know, she depends on Russ for organization or being grounded for kind of controlling her rambunctiousness. But she also learns to appreciate mom wanting her kids to be safe and from season one, I think that I enjoyed seeing her care for her family. I think that’s a very relatable point for viewers at home.

Russ (voiced by Andre Robinson), Sky (voiced by Lyric Lewis) and Pandora (voiced by Gabrielle Nevaeh) in “CURSES!,” now streaming on Apple TV+.

Oh, absolutely. In fact, family is a key trait when it comes to this wonderful series that has survived its first season. I’d like to know what piqued your interest in the role of Pandora, and do you see any similarities between yourself and her?

What really drew me to Pandora was her childlike wonder. You know, she doesn’t take fear to heart too much. She goes into adversity head on, and while making a quick quip on the side. And I think that’s something so fun about that, is that, yes, you do have other characters who take danger a little more seriously, but with Pandora, she’s kind of the comedic relief.

I think that is what drew me to Pandora. And as far as relating to her, she’s a lot braver than I am. I try and hand off the danger to somebody else, like, hey, maybe you’re a little more equipped to handle this than I am, but Pandora’s like, no, I got this. And that’s something that I admire about her. And I think we’re very similar in the sense of we both have a good sense of humor.

In fact, one of the things I love about the series is that Pandora and Russ drive the show. How great is it to have these two young characters, where we get that family tale, but we also get to see them come into their own in a series and work off each other and grow as a family unit.

I think that’s always a privilege when I get to play a character who has growth. Because oftentimes, especially in animation, the growth can be stagnant because even from their outfits, right, they’re wearing the same clothes every day. So, it can be really, really difficult to have growth in an animated project. And I’m very grateful that our writers expanded our characters and gave us the opportunity to let these characters grow up a little bit, not too much, but just to have in the sense of their responsibility and their relationships with other characters going deeper into Pandora’s relationship with Russ.

He’s annoying, but that’s her brother, and she loves him at the end of the day. And Debbie, you know, she can’t tell her best friend one of the biggest secrets of her entire being. But how does she navigate that? And what is, what does that look like? And I think that I’m very grateful that the writers just enabled us to dive deeper into everyone’s story,

What comes into your mind when you think about Pandora and how to create her and bring her to life when it comes to this series?

I remember when I started playing Pandora. I was a little worried, because she’s a bit younger than I am, and they just wanted me to use my speaking voice. They weren’t like, “we want you to put on a voice,” but I did feel a responsibility to capture that youthful like nature. So, with Pandora, her voice, is very pinched in the sense, in my throat. But I feel like with the character, with the growth and with the expansion of season two, I feel like viewers are really going to enjoy watching just watching the overall expansion.
