“Family Feud” has been a household hit since 1976. Hosted by a variety of people, from Richard Dawson to Steve Harvey, families from all over appear on the show to give unique and hilarious answers to questions posed by the host. Now, “Family Feud” is taking their act to the stage for a live performance called “Family Feud Live: Celebrity Edition,” which is set to premiere at Live! Casino & Resort in Hanover, MD. “Bachelor Nations” star Joe Amabile—also known as Grocery Store Joe—is one of the team captains in “Family Feud Live: Celebrity Edition,” and I recently had a chance to ask him about his role as team captain and the show itself.
What can you tell us about Family Feud Live: Celebrity Edition?
“Family Feud Live…” Oh, it’s going to be very entertaining. This is the celebrity edition. The show has been on the air four forty-three years, which is pretty crazy. It’s going to be interactive with the audience. It’s going to be a high-energy stage, and anyone has a chance to participate. You don’t need to be an actual family. I’m going to be a team leader, and hopefully, my team wins ever show, but you never know. You have a chance to win cash and prizes for contestants onstage and also audience members. Players are pulled at random to join live. The live show plays just like the tv show. We do survey questions and there’s a fast money round and there’s a big money challenge, and a lucky audience member is randomly selected to play and has a chance to win as much as $5,000. Audience members should plan to arrive early to register for a chance to play onstage. Registration opens three hours prior to the show. And the tour runs from May 31st to June 14th. Our first show is in Hanover, MD. Tickets are between $25.00 and $75.00 and you can get them on www.ticketfly.com. You can also check out www.familyfeudlive.com for any information and there should be a link on that website that takes you to the tickets.
What are you most looking forward to in regards to the show?
I’m looking forward to just meeting all the people and being able to just interact with the audience and having fun just going to different venues and different cities. I had done the “Dancing With The Stars Tour,” so I just really enjoy being able to travel and meeting different people all over the country.
What is your role as team captain on Family Feud Live: Celebrity Edition?
My role of team captain is to lead the team and just kind of help them out with trying to win, but I’m not allowed to give them any answers, so…and I’m kind of speeding them up and directing them a little bit.
LB: What can fans expect to see when they come to the show?
It’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s a fun show, but it’s also a comedy show, so you’re going to really be able to enjoy it. You’re going to be able to laugh for the entire show. Who doesn’t like to laugh, you know?
Absolutely, because the tv show “Family Feud” has always made my family laugh.
There you go.
Especially in recent seasons with Steve Harvey.
Yeah, he’s the best. So, we’re hoping to be even funnier live.
Well, live sounds even better, because you’re up close and personal, so that sounds like fun.
Yeah, exactly. And you know, anybody who actually goes to the show has a chance to play, so…
Now, that’s something I didn’t realize until you told me, that the audience could participate more than when they sign up to appear on the (tv) show. That sounds even better.
Yeah, it’s way better. And you don’t even have to be an actual family, so it’s just randomly picked throughout the audience, so long as you register before the show.
Let’s say fans want to keep up with you find out more about you; is there a way for them to follow you on social media?
Yeah, my Instagram handle is @JoeAmabile1
