Gibson, the iconic, leading American instrument brand has shaped sound across generations and genres of music, becoming one of the most relevant, played, and loved brands around the world. As part of Gibson’s commitment to artist-first culture, and elevating new music from emerging musicians around the world, Gibson’s Artist Spotlight Program highlights an evolving roster of musicians who are celebrated across Gibson’s global channels.
Today, Gibson is thrilled to introduce Latin pop star JOAQUINA into Gibson’s Artist Spotlight program.
At just twenty years old, singer-songwriter JOAQUINA has quickly become one of the most exciting rising stars in Latin pop. By the age of 8, she was already writing songs after studying guitar, piano, and honing her vocal skills. Her poetic pop-rock reflections on heartbreak, anger, and teenage angst evoke the early works of contemporary artists as well as renowned songwriters.
JOAQUINA’s musical style, focused on a return to the roots of Latin pop, quickly caught the attention of established talents. GRAMMY®-winning producer Julio Reyes Copello (Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez) selected her to participate in the prestigious music program with Abbey Road Institute, and she has continued refining her skills on stage, recently opening for Fonseca, Alejandro Sanz, and Morat on their tour. She was also nominated twice during the 24th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards. JOAQUINA is the youngest artist ever to be nominated in the category of “Best Singer-Songwriter Album” for her debut EP Los Mejores Años, taking home the coveted Latin GRAMMY award for “Best New Artist.”

Released last year (2023) and critically acclaimed, Los Mejores Años (notas de diario) brings together live recordings, words recorded via voice notes, and classic Spanish pop-rock. The EP, produced by JOAQUINA and Julio Reyes Copello, features songs like the main track “Rabia,” the title track of the album, which encapsulates folk-pop traditions in a sonic experience that anyone who remembers their first heartbreak can relate to. An upcoming reissue of the EP delves deeper into the diary-like theme, with JOAQUINA openly sharing her creative process.
The Venezuelan-American singer and songwriter continues to prove why she is considered one of the most talented and promising artists in Latin music. Recently, JOAQUINA, joined Andrea Bocelli as the only Latin music artist on his 30th anniversary celebration concert where she performed “Vivo por ella” as a duet in front of 30,000 fans at Hyde Park in London. JOAQUINA also performed in Mexico and Spain with sold-out shows this year, and achieved a historic feature on the cover of Cosmopolitan Spain.
This year, the singer-songwriter has released several singles, including “Quise Quererte,” “Escapar De Mi,” “Pesimista,” “No Llames Lo Mío Nuestro,” and “El Alquimista,” which will be part of her first full-length album, that will debut in 2025.
