They’re back! This time, the gang is heading to Sin City for the upcoming nuptials of Michael and Candace. A nice romantic weekend turns into a series of unfortunate misadventures. You can follow the good and the bad times with our favorite couples in the romantic comedy “Think Like a Man Too.” Last Wednesday, DC hosted a red carpet premiere of the movie at the AMC Mazza Gallerie. Your roving reporter, Dean Rogers, had the chance to interview two of the stars from the movie: Meagan Good who plays Mya and DC area native Michael Ealy who plays Dominic.  This is Part I of the two day interview. Part II will be released this Thursday!

First off, we start with actress Meagan Good…..

How does it feel to be in the sequel, Think Like a Man Too?

Amazing because I think you always get scared when you do sequels. You never know if its going to be as good as the first. You never know if all the cast will come back…and the director. You know everything that made it magical the first time and then you don’t know if the script is going to be good – if people are going to like it. So this one I think has been a blessing because I feel you get everything you loved about the first one but you get so much more this time around. The script is fantastic, I feel everyone has brought it. The performances have been great. I think the people are going to like it.

What has changed about Mya from the first film to this one?

She’s definitely matured. In the first one, she was a little bit more naïve and really had a positive outlook, which is always a good thing but you still had to deal with some of the realities so that you can stop putting yourself in uncompromising positions. This time around, she still has that optimism and that positive outlook but she’s a little bit more realistic and is able to deal with the things she needs to deal with especially in her relationship.

Tell us what one of your favorite scenes to shoot is.

The “Poison” music video!

What attracts to you a movie role?

Sometimes, it’s doing something that I haven’t done. Sometimes, I like the character’s nature. Sometimes, I like if the character’s a bad guy and there are repercussions to the decisions that they made. Sometimes, the character can be sort of a bad guy but they are part of the lesson that either the lead learns or they learn or that the whole movie is about in general. I guess, different things attract me. Just something I feel like I’ll be on set and be happy and enjoy this character and enjoy what she means to me.

Since you’ve been acting for a long time now, what is the one role that you would like to do one day?

I really want to play a superhero.

Why a superhero?

Just because I want to do some action. I want to kick some butt. It looks like so much fun to me to have a character that can be harder in a sense of being a superhero in the world but also being very serious because they have something they are fighting for, something that is worth the world to them and its everything that they have to win. I think there is a different kind of strength that will evolve from that. You know, its also the physicality of it. I want to jump out something. I want to crash some type of car. I want to shoot something. Not hurt anybody in real life, but it’s that physicality of it is something I crave.

Next is homegrown Maryland native – MICHAEL EALY

Michael, its nice to see you again. It’s been a couple of years.

It’s been a minute. Been a minute.

So, tell us about your role in the film.

I’m back and playing Dominic again. Dominic is a little more grown-up, a little more stable. He;s got a couple of food trucks now and his business is doing well. While in Vegas, he gets a great job opportunity and the only problem is that it’s kind of a long distance opportunity from Lauren, played by Taraji P. Henson, fellow DMVer. So, he has to deal with that.

What attracts you to these rom-com roles? This is your second one this year.

Playing Dominic is a character that I enjoy and like. It’s not a problem for me to come back and play him again.

Speaking of Dominic, what attracted you to the role in the first place?

Dominic’s sincerity and his grind. I like the fact that he goes from someone who has these dreams to someone who’s able to execute them. I respect that and I had to learn that myself.

What is your favorite scene to shoot in Think Like a Man Too?

My favorite scene was the scene between Dominic and Lauren on the bridge when you think they might break up again and in essence, they both have a big surprise for each other.

What do you miss about DC, since you’re a native of Silver Spring MD?

The accent.

*laugh* The accent?! I wasn’t even aware that we have an accent.

Yeah, DC has an accent, man. Nobody says “area” the way we do.

Good point!

Mostly the accent and it’s the only place where you can get French fries with crab seasoning on them. Obviously, there’s no go-go music anywhere else but here. So, you have to come home and get your fresh set of go-go music for yourself!

I would like to thank Michael and Meagan for their wonderful answers and Mike James for taking the cover shot! Be sure to look for Part II of the interview this Thursday! Think Like A Man Too rolls its way into theatres THIS FRIDAY.
