‘Twas the night before Christmas eve on Friday December, 23, 2022, the marvelous Theatre at MGM National Harbor celebrated the holidays with the final tour stop of Fantasia who won season three of American Idol. The extremely stylish sold out crowd and fans lined up in the thousands to be greeted by an opening act of On-Air Personality/MixShow DJ @939wkys. In fact, I believe a lot of her loyal fans bought some of her clothing on her Instagram site @fantasiaxclusivekloset or wore extremely festive attire like blinking Christmas lights, etc.
For the most part, the DJ played a lot major hits with 90s inspired flashback songs which drew the crowd dancing for about forty-five minutes. His best audience reactions were his dedications to attendees of Historically Black colleges (HBCUs), birthday celebrants, etc.
Then Fantasia stepped out on stage with wearing a gorgeous earrings and super sexy black velvet jumpsuit which after a few minutes she stopped the show to say she was taking off her heels to sweat it out on stage. She told the audience to make sure “to get your money’s worth” when watching her perform. Her famous raspy voice is ever so soulful and so many knew every word to her songs.
I felt the entire seventy-five minute show was part revival and part therapy session as she spoke about heartbreak and finding love again. My favorite song performances included It’s All Good, A Change Gonna Come, Lady Marmalade, Tell Me Something Good, If I Ruled the World (Imagine That), Baby Mama, and her encore Summertime.
Overall, it’s amazing how far this North Carolina songstress, platinum album selling, Broadway sensation, and New York Times best-selling author has come. She definitely gave the DMV something to cheer about all night long. I highly recommend you see Fantasia any chance you get.
