Estampas Porteñas Tango Companytells the entangled love story of Charlo and Margot in Deseos, igniting the stage in the Music Center at Strathmore on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.
Fifteen company dancers perform vignettes that follow Margot’s journey as she leaves her rural Argentine village, tempted by the big city—only to discover that what she needs most, she left behind. This production also features immersive projection mapping, which can instantaneously transform the stage from a train station to a milonga in an urban barrio to an outdoor plaza in Buenos Aires. Of a recent performance, the Dallas Morning News heralded Deseos as more than simply an exposition of South American dance—“the group elevated the show well beyond a powerful demonstration of fast footwork, tight spins and other pyrotechnics, making for a night that was as educational as it was entertaining.” For more information or to purchase tickets, call (301) 581-5100 or visit www.strathmore.org.
