I think the secret is out. What secret, you ask? Why, it’s Deep Sea Diver’s new album “Secrets”, which is set for a February 19th release. The Seattle band will release their album on their own label, High Beam Records. Deep Sea Diver got their start when Jessica Dobson left her band The Shins in order to form her current group, which includes her husband, drummer Peter Mansen, bassist Garret Gue and synth/guitarist Elliot Jackson. Together, they released a full-length album called “History Speaks” in February 2012. While you’re waiting for “Secrets” to be released, let me tell you a little about this album.

“Notice Me” has a rock and blues sound to it. The guitar solo and vocals will make you take notice, as Jessica requests. “Wide Awake” has the perfect intro. The loud echoing of the guitar in the opening and the following guitar solo give this track its energy and thrills all who hear it. “Creatures of Comfort” has the sound of 80’s pop in the background, but also has a far out melody. This is a track you will want to dance to.

The dueling guitar intro in the titular track “Secrets” make you rock out to the rock and roll beat. “Great Light” has a soothing musical track and softly sung vocals that will put you at ease. “See These Eyes” is upbeat and has a fun synth tune that will brighten your day. “Always Waiting” is a laid back track with a slow drum beat. “It Takes A Moment” is slow in tempo, but still a fun song to rock out to. “Body on the Tracks” has a lovely musical intro. The echoing vocals combined with the steady drum beat and sweetly played guitar make this song a beautiful addition to this unique album. Finally, we have “New Day”. You will feel the heartache the singer feels in this song, as she sings of her love having walked away from her and moved on to “someone else”.

“Secrets” is an awesome album to listen to, and full of energy. It has its moments when it’s loud and alarming, but it can also be mellow and good to enjoy in the evening. As soon as it’s been released, go get this album. You’re going to love it.
