Legally Blind’s blend of R&B and soul served as the perfect appetizer for the main event. Jubu’s guitar work was a highlight, seamlessly weaving intricate riffs and soulful solos that showcased his impressive talent. The band’s chemistry was palpable, with tight harmonies and infectious rhythms getting the crowd moving from the very beginning.

Tracks like “Lost in the Moment” and “Take Me Higher” highlighted not only Jubu’s prowess but also the group’s knack for crafting memorable melodies. The lead vocalist brought vibrant energy to the stage, engaging the audience and creating an intimate atmosphere that felt more like a gathering of friends than a typical opening act. This lively performance set the perfect tone for Lalah Hathaway’s arrival.

When Hathaway finally took the stage, she elevated the energy even further. Opening with a mix of classic hits and fresh tracks, her smooth, powerful voice enveloped the audience. A standout moment was her rendition of “Returning,” where her emotional delivery and stunning vocal runs left everyone in awe. She treated us to hits like “I’m Coming Back,” “Y O Y,” and “Let Go,” even taking us back to the ’90s with the beloved track “Baby Don’t Cry”. I can’t overlook the beautiful remake of Anita Baker’s “Angel,” as the audience sang along, creating an epic atmosphere.

Hathaway’s ability to connect with the audience was enhanced by the intimate setting of the Warner Theatre. Sharing stories behind her songs, she invited everyone into her world, making each performance feel deeply personal. The synergy between her and her band was incredible, with every note blending harmoniously. Her new single from the latest project, VantaBlack, titled “So In Love,” resonates with the melodious ballads and smooth jams we know and love from Lalah. She also delighted the crowd with a classic hit from her legendary father, Donny Hathaway, “Love, Love, Love.”

Lalah engages the audience as if she’s catching up with old friends, and we absolutely love her for it. Her down-to-earth nature, combined with her sultry voice, captivates completely. It’s as if time stands still, drawing you into a trance and leaving you wanting more with every note.
