John Sebastian played Rams Head Onstage in downtown Annapolis on Tuesday night, to the delight of the sold out crowd. Sebastian, well known for his songwriting and lead vocals of The Lovin’ Spoonful, is charismatic and incredibly funny.
His storytelling for the night encompassed how The Lovin’ Spoonful got their name and where the inspiration for many of his songs came from. It was enlightening and intriguing to say the least, but most of all it was fun! He was fun to watch and fun to listen to. Sing-alongs, of course, were mandatory. The audience took the backup parts in “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice”, and joined in with the whistling solo in “Daydream”.
Sebastian is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and auto harpist. As he is best known as a founder of The Lovin’ Spoonful, his band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. His tie-dyed denim jacket is prominently displayed there.
Rams Head Onstage is one of my favorite venues for a concert or comedy show.
