Lewis performs Beethoven’s final three Piano Sonatas and conducts a ‘Linger Longer’ post-performance discussion as part of Washington Performing Arts’ Piano Masters Series

Internationally regarded as one of the leading musicians of his generation, British pianist Paul Lewis has received unanimous worldwide critical and public acclaim for his recent cycles of core piano works by Beethoven and Schubert, consolidating his reputation as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of the Central European classical repertoire. “There are many prized recordings of the Beethoven sonatas from past masters and current artists,” wrote New York Times critic Anthony Tommasini. “But if I had to recommend a single complete set, I would suggest Mr. Lewis’s distinguished recordings. Here is fresh, intelligent yet daring Beethoven playing, alert to the flights of wildness in the music.”

Lewis makes his long-awaited return to Washington Performing Arts (after his highly-praised Hayes Piano Series debut in 2005) on May 10, 2015, at 7:30pm at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Immediately following the performance, Lewis will engage in a Linger Longer post-performance discussion led by esteemed critic and The Atlantic contributing editor Leon Wieseltier.
