PJ Morton Live Show Killer

PJ Morton’s new album/DVD Live Show Killer is truly outstanding. Recorded live in front of an intimate audience, PJ’s performance is one of the most awesome experiences his fans will have. A keyboardist for the rock group Maroon 5, PJ has branched out as a solo artist and shown us that he has soul. His album includes soulful versions of TV theme songs, as well as Otis Redding’s Try a Little Tenderness and Bob Marley’s Is This Love.

PJ gives a nod to some of our favorite television shows with his renditions of The Golden Girls’ Thank You For Being a Friend and Cheers’ Where Everyone Knows Your Name. Many of us grew up watching those shows, so this was truly a welcoming surprise. He even takes us back with his performance of Bob Marley’s Is This Love and Otis Redding’s Try a Little Tenderness.

Lover is a beautiful and upbeat track with incredible energy. Only One is a funky R & B track with an awesome beat. The horns and drums in Never Get Over make it one of the coolest tracks on this album. I Need Your Love is a sweet melody with a lot of heart. Don’t Ever Leave is a smooth and jazzy track. How We Were, Part 1 is exciting, yet smooth with an R & B feel to it, whereas How We Were, Part 2 is energetic and upbeat.  The soft piano intro and guitar in Good Days Bad Days has the beautiful sound of a Sunday morning church service. Heavy (ft./Mali Music) has a cool and funky sound mixed with classic rock. Work it Out is a sweet and heart warming track. Mountains and Molehills is a beautiful melody that’s easy to love. The opening strings combined with the guitar and horn section make Trade it All an amazing example of rhythm and blues. The amazing guitar intro and horns in I Need You makes it an awesome and memorable hit.

All of PJ’s songs—including his rendition of classic theme songs and hits—are fun to listen to and will have you dancing. His version of the theme songs Thank You For Being a Friend and Where Everyone Knows Your Name were perfect. That perfect brand of nostalgia, combined with PJ’s newest recordings, made this a great album to listen to.

Final Grade: A+
