The Jackie & Ryan – Official Motion Picture Soundtrack Album is now available via Republic Records, featuring music by Katherine Heigl and Ben Barnes. You can get it HERE! The film, Jackie & Ryan, is out in theaters and on VOD now.
The album features 16 early Americana and folk staples re-recorded and reimagined by cast members and top-notch session musicians. Barnes is joined by The Stay All Night Rounders for five tracks, while he delivers three stunning solo contributions as well. He even teams with Heigl for the heartfelt final ballad—“As The Road Goes.” The actress is accompanied by local Ogden, UT band The Red Desert Ramblers and co-star Emily Alyn Lind for a striking and soulful rendition of “Down On Penny’s Farm.”
Meanwhile, indie musician and “train hopper” Nick Hans, who served as a loose inspiration for Barnes’ character Ryan, wrote the songs “Southbound,” and “Birds Fly” [co-written with filmmaker Ami Canaan Mann], and composed the original score. Keeping with the spirit of spotlighting local indie talent, Fergus Daly provides two distinct entries of his own to the robust tracklisting.
The Jackie & Ryan Official Soundtrack spotlights the foundation of modern American folk galvanized and rejuvenated by the voices of Barnes and Heigl for a new generation.
An Official Selection at the 2014 Venice International Film Festival, Jackie & Ryan is written and directed by Ami Canaan Mann [Texas Killing Fields], and stars Katherine Heigl [Knocked Up] and Ben Barnes [The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian] as well as Clea DuVall [Argo], Sheryl Lee [Twin Peaks], and Ryan Bingham. The film is produced by Mann, Molly Hassell, John Jencks, and Jon Avnet. Summary: Ryan Brenner [Ben Barnes], a travelling musician, and Jackie Laurel [Katherine Heigl], a former singer at a crossroads in her marriage, have a chance encounter and defy their curcumstances by coming together in a relationship that may change each other’s lives forever.
