If you’ve seen Disney’s “Frozen,” you probably know each song by heart, or you have a favorite character you love seeing in the movie. Ontario native Matthew King is a fan of the movie and portrays Kristoff in Disney On Ice’s production of “Frozen.” I recently spoke with Matthew and we talked about his role as Kristoff, and what he looks forward to most about the upcoming performance.

I understand you perform as Kristoff in Disney On Ice’s “Frozen”. What has your experience been like?

It’s been great! Performing as Kristoff, portraying Kristoff, it’s great because I get to have great energy out there. He’s a great character. As you know, in the movie, he sells ice for a living and, well, I skate on ice for a living. So, it’s a great combination. And his character has, like I said, great energy and I love to bring out that energy and let the audience have it and they give it right back to me.

What are you most excited about regarding your upcoming performance?

I can’t wait to open in Washington on February 14th at the Capital One Arena and we have quite a few shows there until February 19th. I’ve never been to Washington, so I can’t wait to see what it has to offer, and the great audience that will come in to cheer us on, dance around dress up and sing to all the songs Disney on Ice Presents “Frozen!” has.

Are there any upcoming performances we should look out for?

Disney on Ice has multiple shows coming around, so be on the lookout and check your local box offices or check disneyonice.com to see what performances are coming nearby. But, Disney has multiple shows in the United States. They’re all great shows, please don’t miss them.

I read you are a huge fan of the film “Frozen”. What was your reaction when you learned you got the role of Kristoff for Disney on Ice?

I was so happy! Like you said, I love “Frozen.” I can watch the movie repeatedly, listen to the songs and sing them repeatedly. So, it’s great to be a part of such a fantastic show and such a fantastic production that they have brought to life on ice.

What advice would you give to anyone who wants to skate professionally?

Don’t give up on your dream. You can survive and push and never give up. The sky’s the limit, so please just work hard and you never know what’s going to happen.

Matthew truly loves what he does, and it will show in his performance. So, ladies and gentlemen, get ready for the show of a lifetime, because Disney on Ice presents “Frozen” in Baltimore January 31st at the Royal Farms Arena and at Capital One Arena February 14-19th.
